All About Little Bend Nursery

Little Bend was started in 2004. We have been advocates of using native plants for many years and started the nursery to create a place where people can learn about native plants as well as purchase them. The nursery includes garden areas so plants can be seen in a natural setting. Many of the plants in the gardens are suitable for a wildlife habitat and attract a wonderful variety of birds and butterflies.

Little Bend Nursery specializes in native and deer resistant plants. The non-natives plants are adapted to our area, prefer the same growing conditions and don't require lots of chemicals or extra watering. We grow some of our own plants to sell as well as purchasing plants from others. Over time we hope to be able to offer a wide variety of plants that include both the common native plants as well as the hard to find natives.

Little Bend Nursery emphasizes the use of organic gardening principles. This is not only better for the wildlife (including you) but the plants produced are hardier and will quickly settle in and start growing in your landscape.

We have tried to create a comfortable environment where you can come and walk around the gardens or sit down to visit and talk about what plants would work best for you.

Dan & Evelyn Nugent

P.S. We have been fortunate to have so many friends that have helped us. Some people have donated native seeds or plants to help us propagate some of the natives that are hard to find. Other friends have helped by donating their time. Our Dad, Lieu Smith brought down the antique mowing machine from Great Grandpa Smith's farm and built the entryway sign. The pictures on this page are just a few of the many people that we wish to thank.
